Phone snatchers escape lynching as mob burns tricycle in Kano

An angry mob in Kofar Kabuga, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State, Nigeria, set ablaze a tricycle belonging to a phone snatching syndicate on Wednesday, May 24.

The syndicate members had reportedly started their operation from the emir’s palace area to the popular Nasarawa Hospital in Nasarawa LGA before escaping to Kofar Kabuga, where they abandoned their tricycle after youths mobilized to confront them.

Witnesses said the syndicate members normally snatch phones on a daily basis and sell them at cheaper prices to buy drugs.

The state’s Commissioner of Police has cautioned the public against taking the law into their hands and called on them to complement the police’s efforts to end the menace and ensure the culprits are arrested.
